Traditional functions take place throughout the year at the Iemoto, such as the Iemoto hatsugama (first tea gatherings to celebrate the New Year); the Rikyuki (anniversary memorial gatherings at which we remember the virtue of Rikyu, the founder of Omotesenke) in March; the Tennenki (memorial service for Joshinsai on the anniversary of his death) in July. Also we hold annual memorial tea gatherings at Daitokuji Temple for the successive Iemotos, celebrations of important ages reached and other anniversary memorial functions.
